Forster, New South Wales
Electricians in ForsterReady for fire season, and the storms after it.
The MidCoast, which includes Forster, had four separate bushfire disaster declarations between November 2025 and April 2026, on top of Cyclone Alfred and two big storm events in 2025. For homeowners here, being ready for outages and knowing who to call matter as much as any job. When you do need an electrician, tell us the job and we'll match it with one licence-checked local sparky who does that work, where we have one.

Forster and the MidCoast
On Essential Energy's network
Report outages, lines down and trees on the wires to 13 20 80. In the November 2019 bushfires, Essential Energy reported thousands of MidCoast customers without power.
A run of fire declarations
Three bushfire declarations between November 2025 and February 2026, then another for a fire from 16 to 25 April 2026.
Storms in 2025
The MidCoast was declared for Tropical Cyclone Alfred, severe storms from 28 March 2025 and the East Coast severe weather from 18 May 2025.
Who owns the homes
At the 2021 Census, 48.1% of the MidCoast's occupied homes were owned outright and 22.5% were rented. On census night, 16.3% of private dwellings were unoccupied.
Trees, lines and fire season
If a tree on the street is growing into Essential Energy's power lines, call its general line, 13 23 91, before fire or storm season brings it down. A branch already on a line is a 13 20 80 call, at any hour, and Essential Energy says to keep at least eight metres back because fallen lines can hide in leaves and debris.
If fire or a falling tree damages the line into your house or the meter box, that repair sits with Essential Energy or a Level 2 electrician, the NSW accredited provider for work between the network and your property. Inside the house, any wiring that's been heat or water damaged needs a licensed electrician to test it before it's used.
Holiday homes and rentals
If your Forster place is empty for weeks at a time, test the safety switches and smoke alarms each time you arrive, and get anything that fails fixed before you leave again.
If you rent it out, NSW rules put smoke alarms on the landlord: checked every year, removable batteries replaced yearly, and a broken alarm fixed within two business days. If the landlord doesn't act in time, a tenant can arrange the repair, but only through a licensed electrician. See NSW smoke alarm laws for the detail.
Where we'd put our effort in Forster
Before fire season, we'd report any tree touching the street lines, label the switchboard so anyone in the house can switch off fast, and press every safety switch's test button. If the board is old or a switch won't trip, get an electrician in while things are quiet rather than in the middle of an outage.
