From your job to a phone call
You tell us the job
What you need done, how soon, your postcode and how to reach you. It takes about a minute, and nothing goes anywhere until you tick the box saying it can.
We match the specialist
We look for the licence-checked electrician who covers your suburb and does your kind of job regularly: switchboards, EV chargers, rewiring older homes, fault finding. Not whoever's free, and not a list of five.
They call you
The electrician gets your job and contacts you to talk it through and book a time. You get a written quote and decide. If it isn't right, say no.
What we check before an electrician gets a job
Every electrician is checked on the public register for the state they work in before they hear about a single job: in New South Wales through the Service NSW licence check, in Victoria on Energy Safe Victoria's register, in Western Australia on the Online Licence Search. We also look at their public liability insurance, their ABN and their reviews, and we record the kinds of job they actually do, because that's how we match.
We recheck licences regularly, and straight away if a complaint or a licence change comes up. Wherever we name an electrician, their licence number is shown so you can check it yourself.
What happens to your details
Electricians near you who do your kind of job can see the job, your first name and your suburb. Only the electrician who takes your job gets your name, number and email, and we never sell them on. Whatever its size, a business that passes on people's details for a benefit without their consent is covered by the Privacy Act, so we ask for your consent at the form and follow the privacy principles either way. Our privacy policy sets out exactly what we keep and why.
What we don't do
We don't do electrical work, quote it, or supervise it. The electrician you're matched with is an independent business, licensed in your state, and responsible for their own work and their own certificate when the job's done.
We're also not an emergency service. If there's a fire, sparks you can't stop or someone has had a shock, call 000. If power lines are down or your whole street is out, call your electricity network.
Where we are now
Sparky Next Door is new, and we take jobs from anywhere in Australia. We look for a checked electrician near you who does your kind of job, and if no electrician takes it within 48 hours, electricians elsewhere in your state may see it too. Electricians aim to call you within the hour.
