What each profile will show
- The business name the licence is held under, and the licence number in that state's format.
- Which suburbs and postcodes they travel to.
- The jobs they do regularly, and the kind of evidence we saw for each: finished jobs, photos or reviews.
- That we've seen a current certificate for their public liability insurance and checked their ABN.
- The date their licence was last checked on the state register.
Why do licence numbers look different from state to state?
Each state and territory runs its own licensing, so the names and formats change at the border. In Western Australia a contractor's number starts with EC and an individual electrician's with EW, and Building and Energy says to check both. In Victoria the business is a Registered Electrical Contractor (REC), and the person on site holds their own licence.
Any number you see here can be searched on that state's public register. Energy Safe Victoria, for example, publishes a register for contractors and a separate search for individual electricians. Our licence checker puts every state's register in one place.
Why isn't this a directory to scroll through?
Even once electricians are listed, we won't hand you a list to ring around. You tell us the job and your postcode, and we match the one electrician near you whose regular work fits it.
The profiles are here so you can see who we work with and check them, not so you have to pick between twenty names.
How they get here
Every electrician goes through the same checks before they hear about a job, and how we check electricians sets them out one by one. If you're an electrician who does a few kinds of job really well, jobs for electricians explains how joining works.
