If you've been quoted an ABB home charger
Treat it as something to check rather than a reason to say no. Ask for the exact model number and its Australian datasheet, and look for the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) on the unit, which the NSW Government advises for any home charger.
Whatever the brand, a wall charger needs a licensed electrician to install it. Energy NSW suggests getting quotes from licensed electricians with EV charger experience, and that's the person who should be able to answer the questions below.
What to ask the installer
- What's the exact model, and is it a home AC charger or a commercial unit?
- Where was it supplied from, and who handles warranty claims in Australia?
- Does it carry the RCM?
- Will it suit my supply, single phase or three phase?
- Can I see the warranty terms in writing before I commit?
What we'd do
Unless the installer can show a current Australian datasheet and warranty for the exact ABB model, we'd choose a charger whose maker publishes those details here. EV charger installation explains the job, and home EV chargers compares the brands we could confirm.

Tell us the job and your postcode. We match the licence-checked local electrician who does this kind of work, and they call you. No ring-around, and your number goes to them alone.
