When we looked in October 2026, FirePro's site wouldn't load securely, and we don't take specs from resellers. If we can confirm the range from the maker, this page will change.
Four checks for any alarm, FirePro included
- AS 3786 on the label. It's the Australian Standard for home smoke alarms, and makers now need to meet its 2023 edition.
- A photoelectric sensor. Queensland's fire service says an alarm showing the radiation symbol isn't photoelectric.
- The right power type. In Queensland and the ACT, a hardwired alarm must be replaced with another hardwired one.
- The build date. Look for the sticker on the side or back, which tells you when its 10-year life runs out.
Who fits it
A battery-only alarm involves no wiring. Anything connected to your home's 240-volt power is licensed electrical work, whatever brand is on the box.
Our suggestion
If the packaging doesn't show a FirePro model's AS 3786 listing and sensor type, pick a brand whose specs you can check, such as the ones linked below. If FirePro alarms are already up and working, test them and read the build date before deciding anything.
