What to have ready
- Your business name exactly as it appears on your licence, and your ABN.
- Your contractor licence number for each state you work in, and the licence numbers of the electricians who'll do the work.
- A current certificate of currency for public liability insurance.
- The postcodes you're happy to travel to.
- The kinds of job you do regularly, with evidence for each: recent jobs, photos or reviews that mention the work.
- For service line and connection work in New South Wales, your Level 2 Accredited Service Provider details.
Which licence counts
We need the licence that lets your business contract for electrical work, not just your personal licence. That's a contractor licence in New South Wales, registration as a Registered Electrical Contractor in Victoria, an electrical contractor licence in Queensland and the Northern Territory, an EC licence in Western Australia, a contractor's licence from Consumer and Business Services in South Australia, a contractor's licence in Tasmania and the electrical contractor class in the ACT.
Insurance minimums differ too. Victoria sets public liability insurance of at least $5 million for Registered Electrical Contractors. NT contractors need at least $5,000,000 of public and products liability insurance. In Tasmania, a contractor's licence is only issued or renewed with the insurance the Administrator of Occupational Licensing requires.
What happens after you apply
We check the registers
Your contractor licence, and the licences of the people doing the work, on the public register in each state you work in.
We check the paperwork
That your insurance is current, and that your ABN belongs to the business named on the licence.
We look at your work
Your reviews and the evidence for each kind of job. Job types without evidence don't go on your profile, so they won't be matched.
You hear back either way
If the answer is no, we'll tell you why, and what would change it.
Who isn't a fit
Businesses without a contractor licence in the state they want jobs in. Also electricians who want every kind of job across a wide area: we match specialists, so a long list with nothing behind it won't bring much work.
