Seven Hills, house by house
The originals
Mid-20th century single-storey homes of mixed construction, about 100 square metres on 600 to 900 square metre blocks.
The rebuilds
Two-storey brick veneer homes from the 2000s have replaced many of them, especially south of the railway.
Land given to new suburbs
From 1959 to the 1970s, housing schemes took Seven Hills land to create Lalor Park and Kings Langley.
Endeavour Energy
Seven Hills is split between Blacktown and Parramatta councils, both in Endeavour's area. Faults: 131 003.
Industry to the north
A large industrial and commercial area runs north of the railway line.
Original house versus 2000s rebuild
| Mid-century original | 2000s two-storey | |
|---|---|---|
| Switchboard | May still have rewireable fuses or a backing board made before 1987 | Circuit breakers and safety switches, now two decades old |
| Typical request | Board upgrade, safety switches, more power points | EV charger, extra circuits, lighting changes |
| Watch out for | Modern appliances overloading old circuits | A board with no spare space |
What we'd suggest
In an original Seven Hills house you plan to keep, upgrade the switchboard before adding anything big. If you're knocking down to rebuild, skip that and ask the builder's electrician to size the new board for a charger and battery from day one. For either, we'll match a licence-checked local who does the work if we have one.
