Kogarah's electrical picture
Ausgrid streets
Georges River Council says Ausgrid provides its street lighting, and neither Georges River nor Bayside is on Endeavour Energy's council list. Ausgrid's faults line is 13 13 88; your bill confirms your network.
An old suburb, built up
Kogarah grew around St Paul's church, opened in 1869, and became a municipality in 1885. The Moorefield estate was subdivided in the 1950s.
Every kind of home
Low-density houses, medium-density flats and high-rise apartments, alongside two hospitals and many schools.
Renters
In 2021, 16,416 people lived in 6,149 homes, and 48.4% of those homes were rented.
Power's out in your apartment: whose problem is it?
Look at the hallway and the neighbours
If common lights and other units are out too, it's the building or the street. Check Ausgrid's outage map or call 13 13 88.
If it's only you, check your board
Find your unit's switchboard. If a safety switch has tripped, unplug things on that circuit and reset it once.
Still dark?
Owners call an electrician. Tenants tell the landlord or agent, because electrical faults are urgent repairs.
Burning smell or scorch marks
Switch off at the main switch if it's safe, leave the area and call 000.
Our take for Kogarah owners
Ask your strata manager for the building's electrical records before you plan any work in your unit. Knowing where your supply comes from and what the main board can carry saves a wasted visit, especially for a charger. We'll match a licence-checked electrician who does apartment work if we have one near Kogarah.
Want a specialist to sort it?
Tell us the job and your postcode. We match the licence-checked local electrician who does this kind of work, and they call you. No ring-around, and your number goes to them alone.
