Pimpama today
Built in a hurry
Subdivisions took off once Stage 1 of the Pimpama wastewater treatment plant was finished late in 2008. Before 2010, most residents lived in the Canowindra estate from the 1980s or in Hawthorne Woods, built since 2000.
Young and renting
At the 2021 Census, 56.9% of homes were rented and only 9.8% owned outright. The median age was 29, and 65.3% of homes had four or more bedrooms.
River and creek
The Pimpama River marks the northern boundary and Hotham Creek runs through the suburb. Pimpama was activated for disaster assistance after the Christmas 2023 storms.

If you own in Pimpama
Most homes here went up after 2008, so their switchboards are modern and the work is mainly about adding things: EV chargers, outdoor power, ceiling fans and air conditioning. Ceiling fans and EV charger installation on the Gold Coast are good next reads.
Smoke alarms still apply to you. By 1 January 2027, every Queensland home needs interconnected photoelectric alarms, so check the type and the manufacture date on each one.
Our take for Pimpama
For landlords, we'd book the electrician for the week before a new lease, not after the tenant moves in: alarms, safety switch and any reported faults in one visit, with the certificate kept on file. For tenants, put every electrical problem in writing, and if something is sparking, hot or smells like burning, switch it off at the wall and report it straight away.
