Electricians in ClydeThe house is finished. The wish list isn't.

Clyde had 769 people at the 2011 Census and 11,177 by 2021, almost all of them in new separate houses. In a home that new, the electrical jobs are the ones the build didn't include: a car charger, extra power points, outdoor lights, ceiling fans or data points. We'll pass yours to one licence-checked local electrician who does that kind of work, where we have one.

Clyde in numbers

97.5% of Clyde's homes were separate houses in 2021, and 66.6% had four or more bedrooms. Next door, Clyde North had 31,681 people, with 72.4% of homes on four bedrooms or more.

68.0% of Clyde homes were owned with a mortgage, 23.3% rented and only 6.8% owned outright.

A town centre in the making

AusNet says its Eastern Cranbourne network loop serves growth towns including Clyde and Clyde North, which are planned as major town centres in Melbourne's South-East Growth Corridor.

The network catching up

In March 2025 AusNet announced an upgrade of its Clyde North zone substation, with new high voltage feeders, a power transformer and an upgraded switchboard, to connect more customers and renewables.

Old Clyde

The railway village formed around the station that opened in 1888, and the line closed in 1993. Clyde is in the City of Casey.

The usual post-handover list

  • An EV charger on its own circuit, with the board and supply checked first.
  • Extra double power points in the kitchen, garage and study.
  • Weatherproof outdoor power for the alfresco and garden.
  • Ceiling fans and sensor lights where the build left basic fittings.
  • Data points or cabling for the TV, home office and Wi-Fi access points.
  • A spare circuit or two planned for a future battery or pool equipment.

Getting it done in one visit

A single trip for several small jobs usually gives a tidier result: one set of holes in the plaster, one look at the board, and one Certificate of Electrical Safety at the end. Write your list down before you ask for a quote.

If the house is still within the builder's warranty period, ask the builder whether added electrical work affects it before you book anything.

What we'd do in Clyde

Plan the car charger first, even if the car is a year away. It's the biggest load you're likely to add, and knowing where it goes and how the cable gets there shapes where everything else should sit.
