Castle Hill's homes and power
Two networks, one postcode
Most of the suburb is in The Hills Shire, with a small north-east corner in Hornsby Shire. Endeavour's fault line is 131 003 and Ausgrid's is 13 13 88.
Family houses
Separate houses were 73.7% of homes at the 2021 Census. 35.0% were owned outright and 37.4% with a mortgage.
Orchards to suburbs
Castle Hill was known for citrus orchards. They've since been replaced by houses, shopping centres and light industry, and Hume Avenue was rezoned in 2005 for low-rise units and townhouses.
On the storm track
The 2007 hailstorm damaged the north-west from Blacktown to Wahroonga and about 20,000 homes lost power. After the November 2025 windstorm, Endeavour's overnight repairs concentrated on areas including the Hills District.
Which network am I on?
Your electricity bill names the distributor. Ausgrid's checker shows both for 2154, so the postcode alone won't settle it.
It matters for more than outages. On Endeavour's network, upgrades like single to three phase are lodged through its Connections Portal. On Ausgrid's, if a charger means the supply needs upgrading, a connection application is needed, and Ausgrid recommends the electrician completes it for you.
Either way, work on the service line from the street is done by a Level 2 Accredited Service Provider. Level 2 electricians in Sydney explains who does what.
Before the electrician arrives
You can
- Find the distributor on your bill.
- Press the test button on each safety switch, then reset it.
- Note which circuit trips and what was running.
- Take a photo of the closed meter box.
Leave to a licensed electrician
- Anything behind a cover at the switchboard.
- New circuits for a charger, ducted air or induction.
- Supply and meter changes, arranged with the network.
- Lodging the CCEW when the job is finished.
What we'd do in Castle Hill
Work out your network first, then plan the big loads together. If an EV charger and a switchboard upgrade are both on the list, one electrician doing both saves a second round of disruption, and both are on the approved list for NSW Home Energy Saver loans.
Want a specialist to sort it?
Tell us the job and your postcode. We match the licence-checked local electrician who does this kind of work, and they call you. No ring-around, and your number goes to them alone.
