Picton at a glance
Town history
Stonequarry became Picton in 1845 and the railway arrived in 1863. The timber Victoria Bridge over Stonequarry Creek opened in 1897.
Bushfire on the fringe
In September 2006 a fire front from Lakesland destroyed a house in the Nangarin Estate on the town's western outskirts.
Endeavour Energy
Wollondilly is in Endeavour Energy's area. Outages and fallen lines: 131 003.
Early solar changes
Picton's 2571 is in stage 1 of Endeavour's flexible exports rollout from 2 November 2026.
Homes
In 2021, 90.1% were separate houses, 47.2% mortgaged and 19.0% rented.
What that means for the work
In older town houses, expect patched wiring and boards that predate safety switches on every circuit. NSW Fair Trading suggests a licensed electrician check any home built before 2000 for safety switches.
On bush-edge blocks the jobs are about resilience: outdoor power and pumps on protected circuits, a proper generator inlet, and repairs after storms.
Anyone adding solar from November should check the inverter suits Endeavour's new export rules.
Where we'd put the first job
If yours is one of the older Picton houses near town, get the switchboard assessed before fire season. A board in good order is what lets everything you add, from pumps to backup power, work safely when it's needed. Tell us the job: we'll match a licence-checked local electrician if we have one in Wollondilly.
Want a specialist to sort it?
Tell us the job and your postcode. We match the licence-checked local electrician who does this kind of work, and they call you. No ring-around, and your number goes to them alone.
