What's particular about Liverpool

Backstop from 2 November

Endeavour's first stage covers 2170 and nearby postcodes around Campbelltown, Camden, Picton and Liverpool. New and upgraded systems are registered through the NSW CER Installer Portal.

A flat-heavy suburb

Flats or apartments were 65.0% of homes at the 2021 Census, and the CBD was rezoned for mixed use in 2018.

Mostly rented

Renters made up 61.4% of households, with 20.1% paying off a mortgage and 15.2% owning outright.

The Georges River

The Dictionary of Sydney calls it one of the most flood-prone rivers in NSW. In 1988, floodwater inundated more than 1,000 houses along the river, Cabramatta Creek and Prospect Creek.

Who runs the wires

Ausgrid's checker lists Endeavour Energy for 2170. Fallen lines and outages go to Endeavour on 131 003.

If water has been through the house

  1. Keep the power off

If the main switch is dry and safe to reach, turn it off. If the switchboard itself got wet, keep away from it and call Endeavour Energy, or the SES on 132 500 for help with the house.

  2. Don't test it yourself

Nothing that sat in water goes back on until a licensed electrician has checked it, including outdoor units and anything near floor level.

  3. Book the check

An electrician who does flood work tests each circuit, replaces damaged points and fittings, and lodges a CCEW for what they repair.

Solar on a Liverpool roof

From November, flexible exports become the default for eligible new and upgraded systems on Endeavour's network. To use them you need a CSIP-AUS inverter listed by the Clean Energy Council and an active internet connection. Ask your installer to confirm both in writing before you sign.

Where we'd start in Liverpool

Planning solar? Book an installer who's already set up for the new portal, and ask what export limit you'll actually get. Own a rental near the river? Put a yearly safety switch and smoke alarm check in the diary. It's far easier than an urgent repair call from a tenant.

Questions

Straight answers.

Does the 2 November change affect the solar I already have?

Endeavour describes the rollout as covering new and upgraded rooftop systems. If you're not changing yours, there's nothing to book. If you're adding panels or swapping the inverter, ask the installer how it applies.

Who pays for electrical repairs in a Liverpool rental?

The landlord. Any electrical fault in a NSW rental is an urgent repair, whether it was there before you moved in or started during the tenancy.

My unit's power is out but the hallway lights work. What now?

See whether a safety switch on your unit's board has dropped, and push it back up once. If it won't hold, call an electrician. Hallway lights are common property, so the strata manager looks after those.
