Sydney suburbs

Electricians across Western SydneyEndeavour Energy country, mostly.

Western Sydney covers 11 council areas, from Parramatta and Blacktown out to Penrith, Camden and the Blue Mountains. Most of it is on Endeavour Energy's network, not Ausgrid's, so the fault line is 131 003. Two storms in the past year each cut power to tens of thousands of customers here, and summer heat pushes air conditioners and old switchboards hard.

What shapes electrical work out west

Endeavour Energy, mostly

Endeavour runs the network across Sydney's Greater West. Points we tested at Penrith, Blacktown, Parramatta, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Camden, Fairfield, Merrylands and Katoomba sit outside Ausgrid's area, but Auburn sits inside it. Your bill names your distributor.

Big storms

A windstorm on 26 November 2025 affected 70,000 Endeavour customers at peak. Gale force winds on 5 September 2026 affected 62,256, with Penrith among the hardest hit. On 14 October 2021 a supercell dropped hail up to 6 cm across western Sydney.

Real heat

Penrith's highest recorded temperature is 48.9 °C, on 4 January 2020. The Cumberland Plain sits in a rain shadow and gets less rain than the coast.

Two generations of housing

Blacktown saw large-scale building in the 1950s and 1960s. Newer estates like Kellyville Ridge, Bella Vista, Cecil Hills, Harrington Park and Oran Park have larger modern homes.

Solar and EV rules on Endeavour's network

Endeavour says flexible exports let eligible solar homes export 10 kW per phase most of the time, against 1.5 kW on its fixed plan. Either plan needs a CSIP-AUS inverter listed by the Clean Energy Council and an active internet connection, and the rollout runs by postcode from 2 November 2026 to February 2027. Liverpool's 2170 is in the first stage.

For a wall charger, Endeavour says the licensed electrician should tell it if the switchboard or meter box needs upgrading, and any bi-directional charger must be approved and registered through its Connections Portal.

When a storm hits

  1. Stay well back from fallen lines

At least 8 metres. Report them to Endeavour on 131 003, or Ausgrid on 13 13 88 if you're on its network. Call 000 if life is at risk.

  2. Check Endeavour's outage map

It shows real-time status, and Endeavour sends SMS updates for planned outages.

  3. Call the SES for storm damage

132 500, for trees on the house or water coming in.

  4. Get your side checked

If your house took damage, have an electrician test it before you rely on it again.

The order we'd do it in

In an older western Sydney home, we'd upgrade the switchboard before adding air conditioning, solar or a charger. In a newer estate, we'd make sure any new or upgraded solar uses an inverter that meets Endeavour's new rules. Tell us your suburb and job, and we'll match one licence-checked local electrician who does it.

Questions

Straight answers.

Am I on Endeavour Energy or Ausgrid?

Most of Western Sydney is Endeavour, but some eastern edges, like Auburn, are Ausgrid. Your electricity bill names your distributor.

Does Endeavour's new solar rule affect my existing system?

The flexible and fixed export plans apply to eligible new and upgraded systems from November 2026. If you're not changing your system, ask your installer before assuming anything.

Who restores power after a storm?

Endeavour Energy, for its network. An electrician fixes problems on your side of the connection once the network is safe.
