Electricians in BaldivisYoung homes, busy roofs, and a supply limit to watch.

Most of Baldivis went up after land west of Baldivis Road was zoned urban in the 1990s, so switchboards here are fairly modern. The question usually isn't safety, it's capacity: whether a charger, battery or bigger solar system fits your supply. Tell us what you're adding and we'll match the job with a licence-checked local electrician who does it.

Baldivis, by the numbers that matter for wiring

Estate after estate

Stockland's Settlers Hills was the first estate. There are now about 22, Tuart Ridge and Avalon among them, while land east of Baldivis Road is still mostly rural.

Houses, mortgages and young families

At the 2021 Census, Baldivis had 37,697 people and 13,660 private dwellings. 95.5% of occupied homes were separate houses, 59.3% were mortgaged and the median age was 31.

Solar on a big share of roofs

The Clean Energy Regulator counts 12,363 small-scale solar systems installed in postcode 6171 up to 30 September 2026.

A standard supply with a ceiling

Since 11 April 2023, Western Power's standard household supply is 63 amps on single phase, or 32 amps per phase on three phase. When new circuits would push past it, the contractor must assess your demand and apply for more.

Before you add an EV charger or battery

  • Your main switch is a circuit breaker, which Western Power requires for a 7 kW home charger.
  • The electrician has added up your existing load against the 63 amp single-phase supply.
  • Total inverter capacity stays within 30 kVA, and 15 kVA on a single-phase connection, under the rules from 1 May 2026.
  • You've checked if your retailer agreement allows export up to 5 kW, or if you'll be capped at 1.5 kW.
  • If the charger is bidirectional (it can power the house), it's treated like solar and must meet AS/NZS 4777.
  • The quote says who deals with Western Power and when you'll get the Electrical Safety Certificate.

When three phase comes up

A bigger home with ducted air, a pool and an EV can outgrow single phase. Converting starts with Western Power confirming three phase is available at your property. A registered electrical contractor then lodges a preliminary notice and the application, and Western Power says the disconnection and reconnection takes 5 to 7 weeks once it's accepted. Three-phase power covers when it's worth it.

What we'd do before buying a charger

Get the load calculation done first, then choose the charger. Western Power permits a 7 kW single-phase unit on a standard connection, but a house already running solar, a pool pump and ducted air may need load management or a supply upgrade. Better to know before the unit is on the garage wall.

Questions

Straight answers.

Can I put a 7 kW EV charger on my Baldivis home?

Western Power says a 7 kW single-phase charger is permitted on a standard connection, as long as the contractor confirms your total load stays inside the supply limit and your main switch is a circuit breaker.

Why is my solar export capped at 1.5 kW?

Under Western Power's 2026 rules, export stays at 1.5 kW unless your retailer agreement allows up to 5 kW. The lower cap also kicks in whenever communication with the retailer drops out.

Do I need three phase?

Only if your total load won't fit on single phase. Ask for a load assessment first, because the conversion itself takes weeks.
